From My Window - 058sk

Medium: Oil on canvas
Size :
Status: Available in the personal collection

From My Window is the painting of the view I had when I looked through my bedroom window. I was in deep sorrow at the moment I painted this painting. My father passed away at the very beginning of the pandemic of covid-19. Not because of covid but due to stroke. I could not go back to my home country when I received the news that my father had a stroke. It was just a week after Hari Raya Haji 2020. I still remembered that we had a video call during Hari Raya Haji and he smiled at me. He looked so happy coming back from the mosque. He asked me when will I come back home and I said, I couldn't go back due to the current lockdown in Saigon and will be back soon after the pandemic is over. I was devastated that a week after we had that video call he collapsed due to a stroke and 3 weeks after that he passed away. At this moment when I painted this, my heart was broken thinking of him and the test that I had at that time. Yes, I was tested badly, I felt lonely, sad, useless, and all sorts of bad vibes. Hence, things happened for a reason, life is about changes and time is moving forward and never turning back. As a human, we try hard, accept Qada & Qadar, and embrace the plan God has planned for us.

Tangerine -057sk

Size : 49.5cm x 49.5cm

Medium : Oil Painting

Near to Lunar Year Celebration or TET they called it in Vietnam, I finished this painting. It such a quiet and isolated feel when the pandemic hit the world. This is the first time the Lunar Year Celebration or TET is celebrated in such a dark time when most of the world is under quarantine. Hence, the celebration continues within the individual self-compound. What most important is the feel of thanks and hope for a better future.
